Curriculum

Welcome to the Schaefer Piano Studio! It is my goal to provide music instruction through the piano for anyone who wishes to acquire musical knowledge and learn the art of playing the piano, or to improve current skills. I follow a balanced curriculum which includes keyboard skills, musicianship, ensemble playing, and creative work. A new interest I have is exploring electronic music, using synthesizers and more improvisation work.

I offer the following services:

  • weekly private lessons
  • periodic playing classes
  • participation in studio recitals and special programs
  • performance festivals and competitions; recitals (depending on the needs and interests of the student)

Instruction includes:

  • learning repertoire
  • acquiring or improving music reading skills
  • theory instruction
  • practice techniques
  • some basic music history
  • creative work
  • exposure to different styles of music
  • ensemble playing
